Noted Noire was granted exclusive access to the Blonde Silk campaign, playing a role in shaping its creative direction and capturing the essence of the brand through our lens. After an immersive day on set, we sat down with founder Yasmin Coker, to talk about the inspiration behind Blonde Silk, the art of achieving the perfect blonde, and the future of luxury hair.
NN: What was the moment you knew you had to create Blonde Silk? Was there a single defining moment, or was this a slow-burn idea?
YC: It was a mix of both. I’ve always been obsessed with high-quality hair, and have been wearing blonde hair for years. I used to dye my own hair blonde in school actually, but I struggled to find blonde wigs that looked natural, felt luxurious, and had the right tone straight out of the box. I kept seeing people spend so much money on blonde wigs that didn’t live up to expectations; brassy, over-processed, or just lacking that expensive feel. The defining moment came when I realised I could do it better. I saw a gap in the market for luxury, hand-crafted blonde wigs made with raw hair and I knew I had to fill it. I was constantly asked where I got my hair from or who coloured my bundles and decided it was just time to provide others with what they were asking for.
NN: Your products emphasise the “perfect blonde.” What makes Blonde Silk’s shades of blonde unique, and how did you ensure a range that caters to every customer?
YC: Blonde Silk was created to offer the ‘perfect’ blonde; whether you’re looking for an icy platinum, a sun-kissed golden blonde, or a lived-in natural balayage. The difference is in the undertones and the quality of the colour process. We don’t use over-processed, factory-dyed hair. Each unit is carefully coloured with high salon grade products that you can’t buy on the high street to ensure dimension, vibrancy, and a natural finish. It’s literally coloured as if it was a real head in a luxury salon. We also consider different skin tones. What looks stunning on one person might wash another out, so we developed a range of blondes that enhances all complexions.
NN: We had the privilege of being on set and playing a part in the creative direction of this campaign. What was the creative vision behind this shoot?
YC: The shoot was all about storytelling and creating an aura of mystery and allure. I wanted to showcase the wigs as more than just hair, they’re a statement. One of the main concepts involved models holding large newspapers to cover their faces while letting the hair speak for itself. The idea was that you don’t need to see the face to feel the presence. The hair alone should exude confidence, style, and luxury. Our main model effortlessly conveyed the essence of the brand without even showing her face making the hair, again, the star of the show.
NN: What emotions do you want your customers to feel when they wear Blonde Silk units?
YC: Blonde is sometimes very hard to pull off if it’s not done right, however we want everyone to feel beautiful, confident and turn heads. Whether they’re stepping into a boardroom, onto a red carpet, or just out for brunch. It’s about that effortless beauty, where you don’t have to second-guess your hair. When a customer puts on a Blonde Silk unit, I want them to feel like the best version of themselves.
NN: We saw firsthand the attention to detail in every step of this brand launch. What was the most challenging part of creating Blonde Silk, and how did you overcome those challenges?
YC: The biggest challenge was perfecting the blonde colouring process. Achieving the right shade without brassiness or damage required multiple rounds of testing and refining toning formulas—an expensive but necessary process. Any unit that didn’t meet the strict standards was discarded. Ensuring Blonde Silk delivered nothing but perfection was the priority. Sourcing the best raw hair meant being highly selective with suppliers, rejecting any that didn’t meet the brand’s standards, despite the higher costs and delays. Though this extended the launch timeline, there was no room for compromise.
YC: There’s so much to look forward to! I’m working on expanding the Blonde Silk range with more custom colour blends and different lace size options to cater to a variety of styling needs. I also will implement U-part wigs for customers that prefer to leave their natural hair out in the front. We’re also exploring limited-edition collections with other colours with blonde and potential collaborations with hairstylists and influencers – so watch this space. The goal is to continue pushing the boundaries of luxury wig craftsmanship while making sure every customer feels like they’re wearing the best of the best. I’m not in a rush to sell the most wigs, as I want everything to be perfect and everyone to have a perfect experience as building my customer base and trust is at the forefront of my mind.
